Christmas Tree Festival best yet

Christmas Tree

The annual Christmas Tree Festival held at St Nicholas Church was a huge success. Once again, the entries showed huge imagination, ingenuity, artistry and good traditional punning. However at the end of the day it was Fleckney Primary School's amazing 'Our Growing Communi-tree' that scooped first prize. In second place were the 1st Fleckney Guides 'Guiding Angels'; third the Coleman Family's 'Conserva-Tree' and fourth the Fleckney Rainbows with their 'Winter Wonderland'. Huge congratulations to everyone for their efforts, especially the winners.

We reckon around 800 people dropped by to visit, admire the trees; enjoy a cup of tea, a mince pie and a chat; browse the Christmas craft stall and have a go at the various competitions. We even had a visit by Ady Dayman of the BBC Radio Leicester's live programme 'Clueless'. Never mind he arrived too late to find the hidden clue – they gave us a good plug.

Huge thanks to our major sponsors: Greyfriars Asset Management LLP, Thomas White (Leicester) Ltd and Fiona Cairns Ltd. Thanks too to all who helped in so many different ways. And of course all the people who visited and made the whole event worthwhile. The event has now become a firm annual favourite and many say it marks the beginning of the Christmas season for them.

So see you all again in 2018.
